Bible. Old Testament. Book of Job. Chapter 28
Chapter 28
Yes! silver has a source, and gold has a place [where it] is melted.
Iron is obtained from the earth; copper is smelted from stone.
[Man] puts a limit to darkness and carefully searches for a stone in the darkness and shadow of death.
They dig a quarry well in places forgotten by the foot, go down deep, hang [and] sway away from people.
The ground on which bread grows is pierced inside as by fire.
Her stones are the place of sapphire, and there are grains of gold in her.
The bird of prey does not know the path [there], and the kite's eye has not seen it;
The skins did not trample on it, and the jackal did not walk on it.
He lays his hand on granite, he overturns mountains by the roots;
he cuts canals in the rocks, and his eye sees everything precious;
stops the flow of streams and brings the secret to the light.
But where is wisdom found? and where is the place of reason?
Man does not know its price, and it is not found on the land of the living.
The abyss says, It is not in me; and the sea says: not mine.
It is not given for gold and it is not purchased for the weight of silver;
it is not valued by gold of Ophir, nor by precious onyx, nor by sapphire;
is not equal to her gold and crystal, and you will not exchange it for vessels of pure gold.
But there is nothing to mention about corals and pearls, and the acquisition of wisdom is higher than rubies.
The Ethiopian topaz is not equal to her; it is not valued by pure gold.
Where does wisdom come from? and where is the place of reason?
She is hidden from the eyes of all living things and hidden from the birds of the air.
Abaddon and death say, With our ears we have heard a rumor about it.
God knows her way, and He knows her place.
For He sees to the ends of the earth, and sees under the whole heaven.
When He gave weight to the wind, and arranged the water according to
when he appointed a rule for the rain and a way for thunderous lightning,
Then He saw her and revealed her, prepared her and tried her again
And he said to the man, Behold, the fear of the Lord is true wisdom, and the avoidance of evil is understanding.
